Leaders for Public Health, one of the upper school clubs, whose mission is to “supply the student body with avenues of education and resources facing our generation today,” hosts Challenge Day every year to educate the student body on global issues and mental health. Challenge Day took place on Jan. 10th, the first Friday of the second semester, consisting of five educational rotations on different topics, the Silent Walk in the gym, Step Forward circles, and discussions.
I was able to get some feedback from the students. Most people gave positive feedback to the Silent Walk in the Gym and the Step Forward circles, and even before Challenge Day started, many people said that they enjoyed those two activities last year. I interviewed a group of freshmen, who participated in the Challenge Day for the first time, and they said that they really liked the two activities mentioned. Freshman Lilian Snider learned that “everyone has a mask,” and the silent walk is like a “peep behind the masks,” which allowed us to know each other better.
Challenge Day is an essential part of TGS culture, and we appreciate the hard work that the members of Leaders for Public Health have put into this event.
