It is likely that you have seen the farmyard in the middle school, which is home to several goats, pigeons, two ducks (who go by the creative names of Midnight Marble and Pearl Pancake), and a multitude of chickens (54 to be exact).
Ms. Heald and Mr. Clashman, who keep order in the yard, have big plans for the farmyard this year. They are hoping to have some more baby goats, as the farmyard has had in years past, and are working on finding a father goat. A second goat, Neville, may become part of the farmyard later on in the year.
Neville was rescued from the outskirts of Tucson, where he lived on his own, and currently lives at Mr. Clashman’s house. They have also recently finished building a double-decker duck pond for Midnight Marble and Pearl Pancake, who are very much enjoying this new addition. There are quite a few baby chicks in the yard, which are all growing fast, and some unique looking pigeons who have recently joined the flock of poultry.
If you want to know specifics about any of these wonderful animals, feel free to check out the posters on the yard fence or talk to some of the people involved in the Farmyard Club. They all love these animals, and if given the chance, would love to talk to you about them. The animals themselves have been raised among kids and absolutely adore attention. Both teachers encourage students (and anyone else!) to stop by the farmyard to visit the animals.
